Liora Blake can't do anything wrong in my eyes. I love all of her books! It's so easy to fall in love with her characters and their love story.

Second Chance Season centers around Garrett Strickland and Cara Cavanaugh.

Garrett's character we met in the first book in the Grand Valley series. He's working at the Hotchkiss Co-Op. Everyone thinks he could be doing something better with his life. After all, he had a promising future until his father died and left Garrett unable to pay his debts. To his dismay, Garrett didn't see a way out except selling their family's farm. Losing the farm made Garrett stop dreaming about his own future. When Cara strides into his life, he realizes that they are meant to be together but he knows their relationship is temporary. Cara has a life in Chicago and he can't be part of it. He believes he can't offer her anything to keep her here with him.

Cara Cavanaugh is beginning her new assignment as a free-lance magazine reporter. She wants to write a piece about the farmers around Hotchkiss. She's thankful to Garrett for introducing her around town and helping her do her job. She notices he's an open book unless she wants to talk about his own personal future. She knows he's smart, hard-worker and has the potential to become successful in his own farming business but she doesn't know how to make him see it. As their relationship progresses, being together is like nothing else she has experienced. She's falling for him but she's not sure he will fight to keep her.

I love how Liora Blake throws two people together who at first glance don't seem to have anything in common and by the end, being together is the only thing that makes sense. Her formula works every time! It's a delight to read her books. They are like little gems that I want to continue staring at.

By now, I know who the next set of characters are going to be and I can't wait to see how she's going to make them work.

Oh, what tension there is to behold and the relationship that develops after.

From the beginning, there is sexual tension between Garrett and Cara. Not unusual, I think, but not what I wanted. That isn't to say their story is horrible, just getting to know them beyond that intense initial attraction took a little bit of time.

Garrett, I met in First Step Forward. Cara is new to this series, a woman from Chicago who is tired of life as it is and wants more. So she drops the life she has (literally) and moves to Hotchkiss with hopes that she'll find what her heart yearns for, though she really doesn't know what it is. Garrett and Cara's relationship is instantaneous then slow. Attraction burns hot and bright at first contact. It remains that way but takes a backseat as they are revealed to one another a little at a time.

The ending... Oh, Lord, I really loved the ending. There are a handful of stories I've read where the characters are separated. This is one of them. And the reason is so real, so authentic, I had no reason to hate the separation. It's an internal dialogue that's familiar I want you to stay but I don't know how to ask so maybe you'll figure it out and not leave. But words are worth their weight in gold when spoken from the heart. Rejection is a possibility, yes, but it's worth the risk of knowing you took a leap of faith and asked.

This was a lovely addition to the series. The small town life and all it entails is a magnet for the weary souls I've met so far. The lessons learned, the life lived, the love experienced, make my heart happy to be a part of it.

Second Chance Season is the story of how two people from totally different backgrounds can come together! Garrett Strickland is a country boy who is all about living in the present and happy working at the Hotchkiss Co-Op until he passes by a young woman in a car. Cara Cavanaugh is a city girl from Chicago who just dumped her boyfriend of ten years to peruse her dream of being a freelance journalist and her first assignment makes her relocate to the middle of nowhere town called Hotchkiss for 6 weeks.

With Cara now renting Garrett's former childhood home for the next 6 weeks, the opportunity to get to know each other proves to be challenging than they would ever imagine. As they both fall in love with each and with only a limited time to be with each other, it's battles within themselves that prove that maybe they just are not meant for each other until Cara makes a move that will change everything. It all leads to a farm where decisions will be made about their future in a bittersweet ending for this couple!

This was a very good book that will keep you up longer than you plan on just to see what happens to this awesome couple! I loved the first book in this series and I think I love this book even more! Just reading the struggles that Garrett had to endure and what Cara is doing with her life, it makes you want to root them on even more for that. I wasn't expecting that ending but if you think about it long after reading it, it proves to be the most perfect ending for this couple. I also loved the fact that it had characters from the first book as well just to see what they have been up too as well! My only complaint about this book is why hasn't it been made into a movie yet or better yet, a TV series!

Thank You to Liora Blake for making me become a fan of yours with this one series and I so can't wait to see what is to come next!!
