Never Let You Go A Novel Chevy Stevens Books
To me...this wasn't her best work. It took me a while to get into and finish and that NEVER happens with Chevy Stevens books. The daughter Sophie was aggravating and I never got that complete mouth-dropping twist that I expected. When I got to the end...I was kind of like, "Thats it?"Tags : Amazon.com: Never Let You Go: A Novel (9781250034564): Chevy Stevens: Books,Chevy Stevens,Never Let You Go: A Novel,St. Martin's Press,1250034566,Contemporary Women,Thrillers - General,Abused women,FICTION Contemporary Women.,FICTION Thrillers.,Stalkers,Stalking victims,Suspense fiction.,Thrillers (Fiction),060101 St Martins Trade Fiction,Canada,ENGLISH CANADIAN NOVEL AND SHORT STORY,FICTION Thrillers General,FICTION Thrillers Suspense,FICTION Women,Fiction,Fiction-Thriller,FictionWomen,GENERAL,General Adult,MYSTERY AND SUSPENSE FICTION,MysterySuspense,United States,Women, murder mystery; thriller; thrillers; serial killers; mystery thriller; contemporary mystery; crime fiction; mystery books; mystery novels; mystery authors; mystery suspense; canadian mystery writers
Never Let You Go A Novel Chevy Stevens Books Reviews
Worth reading but not the author's best. Took awhile for me to get into it and the lead characters aren't that likeable. By the end I was just ready for it to be over.
I loved this story - it's terrifying and atmospheric, and kept me turning pages into the night. It's been a while since I HATED an antagonist this much and I was emotional as I read this one. The characterization and atmosphere were brilliant. I love all of Stevens's books, but this one is hands down my favorite (so far). One of scariest books I've read all year! Thanks for the fabulous read.
- Carissa Ann Lynch
This unfortunately this is my least favorite of Chevy Steven's books. Still a fan, but didn't love any one character. Also, fairly easy to guess the twist.
Chevy Stephens is an amazing author, and this novel is phenomenal. I couldn't sleep until I finished it; yet, I didn't want it to end. The characters were complex yet relatable. The plot had so many twists and turns that I could not figure the ending out until the last couple of chapters. Now that I am done, I wonder which book to read next; this one is a tough act to follow!
I should have guessed, but didn't! So well done I, loved the charactets. Only downside, staying up all night reading!
Never Let You Go was SO GOOD! I loved it! Part one of the book alternates past and present from the main character, Lindsey, who is in an abusive marriage. We see how their relationship started, how it progressed, and how her husband Andrew turned obsessive and violent. We also see her present day life with him as she tries to leave and escape her marriage with her seven year old daughter, Sophie.
After Part One, we fast forward 11 years, where Andrew is in prison and Lindsey and Sophie live alone in their new life. However, when Andrew is released from prison, Lindsey can't shake the feeling that someone is watching her. Things progress, and she can tell someone has been in her house. Has Andrew come back to finish what he started all those years ago when he tried killing Lindsey?
I'll say it again - I loved this book! I especially loved the characters. We really got to know Lindsey and Sophie, and I loved the chapters that were told from both of them. I really enjoyed how close they were and their relationship both as mother/daughter, but also as friends. Sophie acted the way I'd imagine any teenager would, and there were times I wanted to shake her, but I think that lent itself really well to making the book feel realistic!
When I first started reading the book, it reminded me a lot of Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes, which is my all time favorite thriller, so I loved that! That said, the book deviated and definitely was it's own story, which was great in that I didn't feel like I'd already read the book before. Sometimes with thrillers it feels like storylines repeat themselves fairly often across different books, and I'm happy to say that was not the case here.
This book had me tense the entire time! I was dying to know what would happen and how everything played out, and I had a hard time putting it down. When I did have to set it down to do other things, I couldn't stop thinking about it, which is the sign of a great book in my opinion! I was suspicious of everyone, and even still, I didn't predict the ending, which I love.
Overall, this was an excellent (and super creepy!) thriller that I'd recommend for all fans of the genre! I cannot wait to read more from Chevy Stevens. A huge thank you to Netgalley, Chevy Stevens, and the St. Martin's Press for an ARC of the book. It was my pleasure to provide an honest review.
Never Let You Go is a tense, chilling, heart-racing read that kept me on the edge of my seat from cover to cover. It’s been eleven years since Lindsey escaped an abusive relationship, grabbing her young daughter and fleeing during the night. Only after her ex-husband was sent to prison was she able to stop hiding, settle down, and start to build a new life with her now teenage daughter. But she learns her ex has served his time and been released from prison. Things start happening around Lindsey . . . small things at first and then escalating with implied threats and items left for her – things only her ex would know about. He swore he’d kill her. Has he returned to do the job?
Changing point of views and a fast-paced story that switches between past and present allows the reader to live the emotional turmoil, fear, and urgency radiating from Lindsey and the conflict, longing, and indecision from her daughter as she wonders about the father she never really knew. As the story unfolds, the hair-raising, heart-pounding, keep-looking-over-your-shoulder intensity is prominent and on-going setting a very ominous tone throughout. The pool of possible candidates is small, and I wavered back and forth between a couple of characters until the big reveal near the end. While I guessed the right person, I didn’t see the reason coming until it hit me right between the eyes. Manipulating the twists and turns and a shocking revelation and confession made for a thrilling, couldn’t-put-it-down read! I look forward to exploring more books by this author. A Must Read!
