Finally out of the "friend zone" Lexie and Ryan can take their relationship to the next level. There's just one problem. Ryan's newly discovered half brother, Brett. Learning about his mom's infidelity was one thing, but then never knowing he had a brother was another. Ryan was having a very hard time accepting him into his life. It also doesn't help that Brett has a big mouth and hurt Ryan deeply without realizing it. The only thing keeping Ryan's head up was Lexie.
Lexie still has her battles with her mother. The good thing is that her mom has quit drinking and seems to be moving forward, but it's a struggle every day. As always, Ryan is her life line.

"...the way she folds into me like I'm he only thing keeping her from falling. I like that. How I'm the one that keeps her upright. Because she sure as hell is that person for me."

Sometimes it's hard to accept the reality that is handed to you and it can put a toll on your relationship.
"Lex? Can I...can I just hold you?"
"Anytime you want to hold me, you can."

Lexie and Brett develop a trusting friendship and it's not exactly what Ryan likes, but he has to learn to be the bigger man. The same can be said for Brett. They fight constantly and it's getting them nowhere.
"Ryan didn't choose his life any more than you chose yours. Just remember that."~Lexie

In between the brotherly-no-so-love there is another issue taking place. It's time to move Lexie and Ryan's relationship to the physical level, but...um things don't always go as plannned. Poor Lexie! That girl tries everything to make herself sexier and put some major moves on Ryan. It's both hilarious and a little sad. It's like Ryan won't take the bait!!

"He's just Ryan. My gorgeous best friend. My boyfriend. The only person that could turn any situation into the best possible moment."

"If you keep waiting for the perfect moment, chances are you'll never find it."

After many ups and downs, tears and screaming, a hit in the face with a volley ball and some pudding with whipped cream, things start looking up for them. They put their issues aside and focused on what really mattered...each other.

"Really. Lex, I've been in love with you since the beginning."
"I won't ever love someone like I love you. So even if things change, that won't. I promise."~Ryan

This book was everything I hoped it would be and more!! Ryan and Lexie are still awkward and adorable. Kaylee and Nate are just the same. And I think I'm smitten with Brett(he's too cute!). I can't wait for the next installment. I really want to know more about Brett and where he came from and I want to see how everyone pans out when senior year is over. Great Read!!!

Lexie and Ryan are the cutest couple ever.
I loved seeing their relationship in this book... they are adorable.
I always wondered how the best friend thing would continue once you start a relationship with that person. But for the most part it's still the same.
Except now Ryan is dealing with some family issues and isn't letting Lexie in. **Oh, did I ever want to smack that boy upside the head!!**
There were ups and downs throughout this story, but it stayed gripped to the pages, just waiting for them to get on the same page.
And then when they finally do?!?! WHAT THE HELL!?! Ryan and a mountain side... that's all I'm saying.
I had to read that sentence about five times before I truly realized what had happened.
I just... I couldn't... oh man.
My anxiety was short-lived though when Brett came to the rescue, thank goodness for those boys being super strong!
Overall, I LOVED this book! I loved Lexie and Ryan's relationship, their banter, Kaylee and Nate we entertaining in this story too (like usual), the addition of Brett was interesting, and I laughed out loud so many times (especially with Grams and the condoms... OMG!!!!!!!).

I definitely recommend you read this book. I cannot wait until Lonesome Beds & Bumpy Roads comes out (though, that title scares the crap out of me!!)
OK, for realz yo. I loved King Sized Beds and Happy Trails (mmmm....Happy Trails), so this book had a lot to live up to. And for me, it surpassed it's predecessor. I remember being a little slow to like Lexie in KSB, and gah could she make you want to shake her. Well, this time it was all Ryan. Oh that boy. He's lucky boys get off easier b/c we love them so much, b/c he was just so frustrating with his lack of communication with Lexie! ARGH! OK, wait a second....this review is already getting off track, and I just started.

So I must say, I fell in total love with Lexie in this book. It wasn't that she didn't still have her own struggles and insecurities in this one, but this time I was wholly on her side.... And I LOVED the little bits we got to see of her new shaky relationship with her Mom. Still not perfect, but so much hope you know? Some of those bits where they're talking just got to me. I was just so happy for Lexie, even though I know there's still a long ways to go. And seriously? I LMAO at the Gyno scene. You will read, and then you will know.

Slightly related -- I loved seeing more interactions between Kaylee and Lexie. Heck, just seeing more depth to Kaylee and Nate -- makes me absolutely DESPERATE for their book. I loved them in KSB, but I just want in their heads so much more after this book.

Ryan....Ryan Ryan Ryan. Well, you're definitely not perfect. *snicker* It was so hard to watch him dealing with all those new emotions, and stupidly keeping it to himself instead of reaching out to Lexie. Oh how annoyingly human of him. And yet, we got to see more of what makes him tick. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Brett, the half-brother, but I kind of adored him. They were so annoying in their realistic reactions to each other, but that just made the cliff scene that much more poignant (you'll read and then you'll know). It was kind of nice how we got to see glimpses of the lonely and confused guy Brett was all along the way, so when we get to the climax, all of their reactions and interactions with each other are just perfect, and don't come out of nowhere.

So all in all, you just got another weird review. This book had everything -- so much fabulous humour mixed with a healthy dose of moments that made me tear up. I can't *wait* to see where this goes from here.

Ohhhh!!!! See, I always forget something important. I LOVED the chemistry between Lexie and Ryan. Holy OMG and all that shiznit. Seriously, it was so great to see them in their "more" relationship in this book. Some great sweet moments, some great steamier moments (without being explicit), and then in the middle of all of that they're still the same awesome best friends that are still themselves with each other. Just makes me look over at my husband and want to high five him, b/c I totally get how awesome it can be to be with your best friend.
